first_imgG B Nagar: Contributing towards Uttar Pradesh government’s massive plantation drive, on Friday, with a target of 22 crore saplings on the occasion of Quit India Movement’s 77th Anniversary, the Gautam Buddh Nagar District forest department, district administration and all the three authorities unitedly performed the exercise and planted over 10 lakhs saplings of various species in a single day at various sectors, wetland, greenbelt and parks around the district. People from various parts of the district came in large number and supported the drive. The GB Nagar district achieved beyond the given target and planted 10.67 lakhs saplings in a single day,” said Pramod Kumar, Divisional Forest Officer, Gautam Buddh Nagar. Also Read – Two brothers held for snatchingsThe officer further said that a massive plantation drive was executed in Sector-91 Biodiversity Park by Noida authority followed by Yamuna authority area and plantation of nearly ten thousand saplings at Surajpur wetland area and district collectorate. The Noida authority also recorded a benchmark by planting 2,55,289 saplings of various species in a single day. The plantation drive was carried out at 25 places in Noida including bio diversity park in sector 91, Sector-94,125,127 & 128 Central verge & road side plantation and almost all the major sector and footpaths of Noida. The authority started the Plantation program from sector 91 bio diversity park by Chief Guest Satish Mahana, Minister of Industrial Development. Besides the Minister, Dr. Mahesh Sharma, M.P., G.B. Nagar & Pankaj Singh, MLA, Noidaalso participated in the program. R.K. Singh, Principal Secretary, Infrastructure & Industrial Development and Ritu Maheshwari, CEO, Noida were also present in the plantation program. “This is by far the maximum plantation in a single day in the history of Noida by Noida authority. In previous year, Noida Authority planted 1,04,918 plants on 15 August 2018, which was a record of highest plantation in a single day at that time. After that Noida Authority broken its own record with planting 1,70,104 plants in a single day on 17 November 2018,” said Ritu Maheshwari, Chief Executive Officer, Noida authority.last_img read more
