Bhí gaoth láidir ag séideadh i bpáirc Naomh Fionán agus ní raibh sé furast peil mhaith a imirt. Bhain foireann tacaíochta Chloich Cheannfhaola 4-07|4-04 agus bhuaigh na sinsir 0-11|0-07. Comhghairdeas leis an dá fhoireann. Tá turas fada go Gleann Cholmcille romhainn Dé Domhnaigh le aghaidh a thabhairt ar Naomh Columba ar 1:30 agus 3:00!It was another successful weekend for both our Senior and Reserve teams, when they took on Sean MacCumhaills at home on Saturday evening last. Despite the strong wind the teams had to contend with, they came out with a further 2 points each to add to the league table. Meaning the reserves hold on to their number 1 spot on the table and the seniors move up into 3rd!Reserves:It was again, another busy day for the net minder on both teams! The reserves led by one point at the beginning of the 2nd half, 2-03|2-02. Within 10 mins into the 2nd half Mac Cumhaills had kicked home 2 goals and 2 points to rocket them into the lead. But the determined Cloughaneely never gave up the chase and were justly rewarded with 2 further goals of their own 5 minutes from the final whistle! Reserve FT Score: CCF: 4-07 MacCumhaills 4-04. SeniorsIt was a tough home battle for Cloughaneely against a strong MacCumhaills side at the Cloughaneely grounds on Saturday evening. MacCumhaills had the disadvantage in the 1st half of playing against a strong breeze. Shaun McGuire got proceedings under way for Cloughaneely with a point within the 1st min of play, which was quickly cancelled out by a point from MacCumhaills’ Martin O’Reilly. Further 1st half points for the home side came from Ciaran Scanlon, Declan McGarvey and Denis Boyle. Despite the disadvantage of playing against a strong breeze MacCumhaills kept to within 3 points of the home side going in at half time thanks to points from Stephen Mulligan and Chris Gallen.HT Score: CCF 0-07 Mac Cumhaills 0-04Cloughaneely got off to a strong start in the 2nd half with 2 points from Shaun McGuire and Declan McGarvey within the 1st minute of play. MacCumhaills’ Aaron Kelly slipped the ball off to Martin O’Reilly who recorded the visitors 1st point of the 2nd half 5 mins in. O’Reilly was MacCumhaills’ main scorer and built up a tally of 5 points during the game. 2 converted frees from O’Reilly at the 8th and 10th minute ended MacCumhaills’ scoring run of the game. The home side struggled slightly against the breeze and it took until the 20th minute to record their next score with John Fitzgerald and Darren Ferry adding the final points to the board. MacCumhaills had Cloughaneely on edge on a couple of occasions during the 6 minutes of added time, where the ball was dropped into the goal mouth; but was cleared out to safety by Cloughaneely’s Kevin Mulhern and Kevin McFadden who showed strongly for Cloughaneely throughout the game.FT Score: CCF 0-11 MacCumhaills 0-07 Cloughaneely: Shaun McClafferty, Ciaran McGeady, Cian McFadden, Eamonn Curran, Lee O’Brien, Kevin Mulhern, Paddy Cannon, Kevin McFadden , Ciaran Scanlon (0-01), Declan McGarvey (0-02), Darren Ferry (0-01), Cillian Gallagher, John Fitzgerald (0-01), Shaun McGuire (0-03), John McGarvey.
